Buying and Selling Websites for Average Joe

Ok let’s all say it together I hate my boss, there doesn’t that feel better? Lets face it nobody loves their job let alone their boss. This is no secret as many people will tell you that they hate the current job that they are in. The question is what other options are out there for people who are in a dead end job. These people need to consider the fact of buying and selling websites. Now I know what you are saying there is no way in the world that I can make money just by buying and selling websites. I am here to tell you that you can make money just by flipping websites and in the end it is not that hard or expensive to do. This will allow you to quit your job and begin a career that will start to bring you a nice income and all it takes is a little time and very little money.

Now I know what you are thinking, you’re thinking that this is just a pipe dream and that no real money can be made doing this. That is where you are wrong, you can make money and no it is not a great dream. The truth of the matter is this the internet is becoming more part of our lives and if you don’t act on the trend someone else will. Despite many startup businesses there are no real cost involved, all you really need is just a small amount of money to buy your first site.

So you are asking yourself how exactly do I get started in this and start making the money that I deserve to be making? For starters there is the basic need of buying a website in which you can flip and make money off of the finished product. Now there are two ways upon which you will be able to obtain a website that you will be able to flip and make it ready to resell to another person. The first is to build a site of your own. This where you will take a site and build it from scratch. You are in charge of everything in the design of the website, and in the end all you had to pay was a small fee in order to host your site. The other way to acquire your site will be to go and buy your next domain. This will depending on the type of site will cost you a little more than you would pay for a site that you build yourself.

Now that you are ready to acquire your website to flip you will now need to decide on the niche that you are going to try and place your domain in. You will need to decide as to where you want to compete with the other sites that are out there to try and make money. Lets say that your business plan has you selling surfboards, you will want to make sure to have a site that reflects this niche and describes you and your business. Lets say that you are buying this site from a person who previously owned this site then you will want to know the stats that the site has to offer it’s potential buyers. Things that you will need to keep in mind is the SEO ranking of the site as well as the number of visitors to the site each month. The reason that this information is so important is so you know what you are buying before you actually buy. The last thing that you want to do is to buy a site that never see any traffic because of poor SEO ranking.

You will need to ask the site owner for some documentation that shows how much traffic the site has seen in the past. If this information is not able to be obtained then you will want to just do a keyword search for the site on Google. See where it comes up on the site as far as page rank is concerned. If the person does give you documentation as to the traffic make sure that it is legitimate info and not just what they want you to see in order to buy the site.

Once you have purchased the website, it will become necessary t redesign it to make it more attractive to buyers. Before you tell me that you have neither the knowledge nor the interest necessary to perform any programming or design functions, let me assure you that neither is necessary for you to prepare your site for resale. You simply have to use your best judgment and apply your own design concepts to the site.

The last thing that you will need to do is find a place to host your site. There are several places out there that will host your site with price plans ranging from free to around $30 a month for unlimited services. These are the things that you will need to keep in mind as there are several things to consider when buying and selling of a website. But if you do your homework in the end it will be worth your time and money.
