Biographies are Powerful
Even the perkiest of us need an outside source of motivation and a wonderful way is a good biography. A biography tells the story of a person’s life. The person who has a biography is normally a politician, religious leader, the leader of a social cause or movement, or a celebrity of some sort. People want to know about the early years of this person’s life, and how they became famous. When the reader reads the biography, they can become inspired from the obstacles the biography subject had to face before they became famous, or they learn about obstacles that were overcome to reach a goal. This is especially true about biographies about famous leaders.
Employees often begin to dream and aspire to bigger things after reading the biography of a prominent business leader. This is especially wonderful if the business leader grew up poor only to persevere and rise up to dizzying heights in business. There are also biographies about the person with a mental or physical disability who still becomes a leader in their field. Hope grows when we take in how these people have overcome or even used their adversity to reach unimaginable goals.
History can also show up in biographies. You can garner a bird’s eye view of famous historical events or just history in general. You can see how certain historical events changed or shaped the life of a biography subject. Biographies can lend life and warmth to history whereas history books tend to be cold and clinical. View history through a biography and see the humane aspect of the story. It is often surprising how historical events can make an impact on another human being.
Some historical and current people have done things in their life that are not exactly above board. These subjects may have done embarrassing or shameful things in certain cases and other times the issues are actually criminal. You may hear about these people from the news and wonder just what went so wrong. Were they destined to commit these acts or was something missing from their life as a child or later in life that led them down the wrong road. Questions of all kinds can be answered by a biography. Even a person who has done some terrible things can gain sympathy or at least understanding for why they have done whatever it is they are famous for. These types of biographies can offer insight into what makes an individual tick as well as why they made the mistakes they did, giving the reader a model of what not to do.
Finally, people want to gain insight about the backgrounds and private lives of their favorite spiritual leaders. A biography can offer up this kind of information. The reader can feel closer to their favorite spiritual leader through a book that fleshes them out, and shows the spiritual leader to be human. At the same time, there have been many evil spiritual leaders as well. When events such as mass cult suicides happen, people are perplexed as to how such a leader could influence others, or even rise to power. A biography about their lives answers these questions as well.
Biographies offer readers true up lifting moments, they are great jewels. They are often revealing about the life and obstacles that your favorite celebrities have overcome. This information would be hard to come by any other way.
More for great biographies about many business people including Jim Crammer, Suze Orman, Glenn Beck, Howard Hughes, and Stephen Covey.
