5 Event Photography Essentials

Unlike other kinds of photography, event photography needs weightier attention specially if the size of the event is excessively big for only one photographer to handle. Coincident events within one major event in fact unavoidably demand two or more photographers to make sure everything is handled. As a client, you can rest your mind over the quality of pictures you are to expect if the photographer guarantees you of shots around these five central angles:

Special moments. Event photography need not only be a chronological documentation of activities taking place within an event. More fundamental than that are particular and tender moments which demonstrate the over-all feeling event players and invitees felt while being at the event. When they see the pictures, they will recollect how they felt as though they were in the moment again. Catch laughter, tears, triumphs and excitement.

People. This is not hard for event-goers to admit: they go to events for vanity reasons. And so, society pages of local newspapers are pelted with poses here and there of who-and-who rubbing shoulders with the top bananas of company so-and-so. Just next to emotions in import, in event photography, photos of big people attending the event are part of the parcel. In case of a business event, it may help with branding or corporate image. In case of a personal event, the photographs of people who attended the event serve as a memento to be cherished for generations.

Documentation of activities. Event photography also calls for being able to document every single activity as planned in the programme. The better way to do this is to review the programme ahead of time and identify the personalities in attendance. The day or night of the event can be very bustling, particularly for big ones anticipating a huge attendance. So when the photographer gains the chance to take solo shots particularly of the prominent invitees, he should be able to grab his camera, aim and shoot. This should make it more viable to complete a documentation of all activities and of everyone in attendance.

Gimmicks. Every event has a highlight, or fantastic activities that draw “wows” from the crowd together. This should be the centerpiece in event photography where the activities encompassing the event are involved. The photographer can play this up and be fanciful about how to show that the gimmick was so breath-taking even on a flat photograph.

Twists In The Event. Ultimately, not all events are foreseeable, although the rule book on events organising seeks to make everything predictable. Some twists can happen, and so fantastic event photography holds certain twists in the events. All of these can give more emotion to the account behind the event, and more emotion makes for more powerful photos.
